  • What is an ultrasonic hem and what are the advantages?

An ultrasonic hem is a method of finishing the edge of a fabric that overcomes the disadvantages of a stitched hem. A stitched hem creates a fabric pocket that takes longer to dry and is therefore prone to mildew and mold growth. An ultrasonic hem eliminates this pocket and dries faster which inhibits the growth of these elements. Our ultrasonic hemming also has a more tailored contemporary appearance that complements any room design.

  • What is GSM?

The weight of a textile item is frequently expressed in terms of metric in grams per square meter (gsm). This is the weight of a piece of fabric that is cut 1 meter by 1 meter square. Fabric weight can also be expressed as ounces per square yard (oz/yd2). 100 gsm is the same as 2.95 oz/yd2

  • What is the difference between water resistant, water repellant and water proof?

Water resistant is able to resist the penetration of water to some degree but not entirely. Water repellent is not easily penetrated by water. Sometimes this is a result of being treated for this purpose with a surface coating. Waterproof does not allow water to pass through or be absorbed by the textile.

  • What is RPET?

This is sometimes referred to as rPET, RePET or similar. The “r” stands for ‘recycled’ and PET is ‘Polyethylene terephthalate’, or commonly known in fabrics as polyester. PET is also used in things like water bottles. RPET helps the environment by taking used plastic items like water bottles, chops them into little pieces that are melted to remove the PET which is then made into polyester fibers to weave fabric. A great sustainable solution that helps clean up our planet and help to reduce our carbon footprint!

  • What is the difference between PEVA and vinyl?

PEVA is polyethylene vinyl acetate and is commonly used as an alternative for PVC or polyvinyl chloride which is commonly referred to as ‘vinyl’. POLYCARBONATE is widely used for many products as its properties include excellent impact strength, heat resistance, inherent flame retardance, ease of process, and clarity.

  • What is the difference between PET (polyethylene terephthalate) and PVC (polyvinyl chloride)?

Both PET and PVC are used interchangeably in many products and packaging and effectively have the same durability and strength. One major difference is that PET is also a more sustainable product. PET can be recycled very easily and has been adopted for our use because of its more environmentally friendly aspects.
